Asset Owner Transformation: The Unavoidable Case for Change

Driven by increased operational risk and servicing requirements, Canadian asset owners are looking to build greater flexibility and control into their operating model, according to the key findings of Asset Owner Transformation, a survey of 130 asset owners in Canada, the United Kingdom, South Africa and Australia.

Conducted by The ValueExchange, with the support of RBC Investor & Treasury Services, the Milestone Group, Citisoft and Adapa Advisory, this survey delves into asset owners’ key drivers and approaches in evolving their operating models:

  • Over 40% of asset owners are using Excel for their asset allocations
  • 62% of transformation projects undertaken in the next three years will be enterprise-wide
  • 78% is the average importance of operational agility as a driver of change
  • 40% of asset owners are turning to software vendors as their partners in change
  • 73% of asset owners see restructuring as a key step in their transformation
  • 17 months is the average transformation project duration
